Clinton Goodwill Grand Opening a Great Success
The grand opening weekend for the brand-new Goodwill Select Store in Clinton, Mississippi, was an incredible success. We opened to a line snaking out the door! Check out these highlights from the weekend and some reasons why you should swing by and enjoy the thrill of Goodwill!
Community support in Clinton
Goodwill enriches communities. Not only do you help reroute items from landfills, but you help create jobs for people in your area with barriers to employment—empowering those individuals with job training and educational opportunities.
We were honored to have one of our Goodwill employees, Willy Chambers, lead the invocation. We’re grateful for the warm community welcome provided by TJ McSparrin, Clinton Chamber of Commerce executive director, Tracey Harrison, incoming Chamber president, and Mayor Phil Fisher of Clinton. Dave Hollingsworth, Goodwill Industries of Mississippi CEO, John Sewell, Goodwill Mississippi board chair, addressed the partnership that we’re all looking forward to with the City of Clinton and the business community.
State Treasurer Lynn Fitch, a Goodwill Mississippi Board Member, addressed the positive impacts of shopping at Goodwill in her keynote speech. Providing dignity and opportunity, she says, is the tapestry of Goodwill. (You can watch the grand opening on our Facebook!)
“This organization is a heart organization. It’s very compassionate,” she said. “You can’t do it with one; it takes all of us to be a part. For me, it’s such a blessing to be engaged in this organization.”
Innovative job skills at the E-commerce center
The Clinton Goodwill is the new dedicated home of Goodwill of Mississippi’s e-commerce operation. A busy hive of Goodwill employees collect, inspect, photograph and stock collectible, high-quality and designer items, learning valuable new job skills in the process. The donated items go online for you to bid on and purchase—or, if you live close enough, stop by and pick up yourself. This evolution of the Goodwill mission better equips our workforce with today’s skills.
Lucky winners take home brand new TVs
Thanks to generous contributions from Cowboy Maloney’s Electric City, three lucky shoppers won brand-new televisions in a raffle at the grand-opening weekend celebrations. Congratulations to Henry Bibb, Judy Graham and Terrell Orey!
