On Friday, November 1, 2024, Goodwill of Mississippi, in partnership with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS), hosted an inspiring Job Extravaganza at the Clinton Public School Administration Building. The event brought together 61 students with diverse learning needs, giving them the chance to explore career paths, build new skills, and connect directly with local employers.
We were thrilled to see 9 businesses join us to support this event, each providing invaluable insights and guidance to the students. Representatives from Lobaki, Build Mississippi, Clinton Police Department, Clinton Fire Department, B1 Nursing Care, Hinds Community College, Continental, McNeely Plastics, and Brown Bottling Group were all on-site, creating a diverse lineup of industries for students to explore.
One of the event highlights was a powerful talk from Christy Dunaway, a motivational speaker and triple amputee, who shared her journey and insights on overcoming obstacles and pursuing goals with determination. Her story inspired students and guests alike, serving as a reminder of resilience and the power of hard work.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Clinton Public School District, MDRS, and all the participating businesses. We’re also grateful to the Goodwill Ambassadors, who volunteered their time to assist with the event, serving food and helping with activities to make sure everything ran smoothly. Their support was invaluable, and we couldn't have done it without them!
Looking ahead, we’re excited to bring more Job Extravaganzas to other school districts. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this Job Extravaganza. Together, we’re building brighter futures and empowering young individuals in our community!
